Google Assistant Supporting LG TV In More regions
Google Assistant Supporting LG TV In More regions with ThinQ AI , the proprietary platform that exploits artificial intelligence. The Google assistant will arrive in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, South Korea, Spain and the United Kingdom from the last quarter of 2018.
The 2018 enabled televisions will offer a more extensive and evolved voice interaction. Artificial intelligence is more concretely a ” deep learning ” technology that allows the use of natural language to impart commands and initiate various types of functions. Users can request information, such as weather forecasts, restaurant opening times or latest sports results.
You can also turn the TV into the control unit for other ” smart ” devices , the so-called “smart home”. Google Assistant is already compatible with over 5,000 products including robotic vacuum cleaners, thermostats, air purifiers and lighting solutions. Obviously, more basic operations are supported, such as changing the channel, adjusting the volume or switching off the TV simultaneously with the end of a television program.
The voice interaction can take place via the microphone built into the remote controls or by using the Google Home speaker (the support is not yet present in all countries but will progressively arrive).
Brian Kwon , president of LG Home Entertainment Company, said:
LG’s vision is to become a point of reference for artificial intelligence based on a philosophy of platform, partnership and open connectivity. In addition to the unparalleled image quality offered by LG TV, Google Assistant will bring the smart home to a new level, in line with LG’s mission to improve the daily lives of its customers through cutting-edge technology.
Italy is unfortunately excluded from this part-session. You will then have to wait to use Google Assistant on LG TVs.
